Sharon Merriman CHHC, AADP | Biography

Sharon Merriman is a board certified holistic practitioner, salon owner, cosmetologist, and freelance writer who LOVES to cook.

Sharon began her professional career in the beauty industry 33 years ago. Having always been interested in health and nutrition and wanting to help others in their quest of a healthy lifestyle she decided to go back to school to study nutrition at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (NYC) graduating in 2013.

At IIN she studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. Her teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mindbody medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

This education has equipped Sharon with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and her knowledge of different dietary theories, she works with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results. With great compassion and personal experience, Sharon specializes in weight loss, autoimmune disease, and behavioral modification.

When she is not formulating colors in the salon, creating new hairstyles, and coaching clients, you will find her running, hiking, working out at the gym, or creating new recipes in her other workplace… the kitchen. She is an avid reader and supporter of Functional Medicine. She also loves to sail and do anything on the water.

Sharon resides on the Eastern Connecticut shoreline with her son and their tiny teacup poodle Harley.
